PEPPER STEAK

    1 1/2 LBS. ROUND STEAK
    1 CUP SLICED ONION
    1 CUP BEEF BROTH
    2 STALKS CELERY, CHOPPED
    1 TBSP. SALT
    1/2 TSP. GARLIC POWDER
    1/2 TSP. GINGER
    2 GREEN PEPPERS, CUT INTO STRIPS
    1 CUP SLICED MUSHROOMS
    1 CAN TOMATOES. CHOPPED
    3 TBSP. SOYA SAUCE
    2 TBSP. CORNSTARCH
    1 CUP WATER
    **CUT STEAK INTO THIN STRIPS AND BROWN. ADD BEEF BROTH, ONION, CELERY, SALT, GARLIC POWDER AND GINGER; SIMMER, COVERED FOR 30-35 MINUTES, OR UNTIL TENDER. ADD GREEN PEPPERS, MUSHROOMS AND TOMATOES; COOK AN ADDITIONAL 10 MINUTES. MIX SOYA SAUCE AND CORNSTARCH IN 1 CUP OF WATER UNTIL SMOOTH. SLOWLY STIR INTO SAUCE AND COOK, STIRRING CONSTANTLY, UNTIL THICKENED. SERVE OVER RICE.
