Oatmeal Cake

    1 cup quick cooking oats
    1 stick oleo
    1 1/4 cups boiling water
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/3 cups flour
    1 cup brown sugar
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon

    Pour water over oats and oleo together. cover and let set for 20 minutes. Mix remaining ingredients. Combine with oats and pour into greased oblong pan. Bake at 350
    degrees for 35 minutes. (9 x 13" pan is a little too large)
    When done, cover with the following mixture:
    6 T. butter
    1/4 cup cream or Milnot
    1/3 cup sugar
    1 cup nuts
    1 cup coconut
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Place under broiler until brown. Be careful as mixture will burn easily.
