1/2 cup real butter, softened (no substitutes)
1/3 cup powdered sugar, unsifted
1/4 teasp. vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour, unsifted
Cream butter until light and fluffy. Cream in sugar and vanilla. Work in flour with wooden spoon. Knead dough on unfloured board until nice and smooth. Press into ungreased baking pan (about 9-inches in diameter or 9X9 square). Prick thoroughly with fork and score. Bake at 325 degrees for about 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned. Let shortbread stand for about 10 minutes before cutting and removing from pan.
